Our client KPMG and Flanders Classics will provide equal prize money for the winner of both men's and women's races in all Flanders Classics Spring Classics this year. Both organizations are working to further reduce the inequality between men and women, with the aim of further professionalizing women's cycling. The opening classic Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is also a top-level race for women for the first time, and there is further investment in broadcasting, as well as giving young people more opportunities to grow. The news was picked up by nearly 50 different media outlets, including Sporza, Kanaal Z, VRT NVW, De Standaard, L’avenir, Eurosport, and more.

“Equal recognition for women is more than just about the money,” says KPMG Head of Sales & Marketing, Stefanie Pauwels. “It has enormous symbolic value as well. Extra investments are a step towards creating the best possible conditions for female cyclists, both financially and in terms of sports performance. It gives them the chance to realize their ambition of improving their performance and skills full-time, to fully aim for an athletic career.
